Lourdes

The Kings Aces Magazine:
First off thank you for taking time out to chat with us over at the kings aces.

Lourdes:
It's My Pleasure. Thank You As Well.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
So let the people know your name, what you do and where you're from.

Lourdes:
My Name is Lourdes (Loor-des). I was born and raised in Oklahoma City! Go Sooners! And I am a singer.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
When was it that you first realized you wanted to be a gospel singer?

Lourdes:
Well I've been singing Gospel music for as long as I can remember.  I grew up in church and gave my life to Christ. And I am a firm believer in God! So Gospel music is in my blood. But I don't really put myself in a box as far as what type of singer I am or what kind of music I do. I'm an Artist. I sing about God, love,  heartbreak, Girl Power, life, intimacy, and any other subject that we deal with in life.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
How long have you been doing this?

Lourdes:
I started writing lyrics to my own songs when I was 7. I remember looking back on old notebooks, and I had written whole songs --- Verse, Chorus, Verse, Bridge --- in Crayon. As a teenager I began doing musical productions; Annie, Willy Wonka, The Color Purple,  and Hairspray. By that time I knew that I was meant to be in the entertainment world. I sang with a couple of recording  Gospel Groups. While still writing my own songs. I started to lose sight of my dream. Especially after having my son. But I decided that I wanted to do what I was born to do, so I started writing again, and here I am getting ready to release my very first official single!

The Kings Aces Magazine:
 Who are your influences?

Lourdes:
Mary Mary, a gospel Duo, is top of the list. They literally made me realize that I wanted to sing for a living. Beyoncé is next. It seems so Cliche,  but have you ever watched her in a rehearsal, or seen the work she does behind the scenes? How many hours she puts in just to make sure she puts out her best. She gives 500% every single time. And that's how I want to be. I love this so much, I'm willing to get the blood, sweat, and tears to make it happen.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What was it that made you want to sing for God?

Lourdes:
He's God!! Too many times I've been close to death,  or didn't know where my next meal was coming from. And God just shows up right on time! You can't help but to sing about his love.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What are you thinking about when your writing or developing a album?

Lourdes:
Of course it depends on what I'm writing.  First and foremost I want to make sure that what I write, I whole heartedly believe in it. I never want to write or sing something that I believe is wrong. After that I channel my own experiences, what I've been through. Sometimes I think about fantasies that I think love should be like. Lol.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
Tell us what do you think listeners will get out of your music?

Lourdes:
Definitely real topics. Real experiences. Real Encouragement. Real issues and how to get through them.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in life?

Lourdes:
Whew. That's deep. I guess the most difficult time was when I had my son. After I had him I experienced Postpartum Depression. I never thought it would happen to me. I hardly wanted to eat, I barely got any sleep. It was tough. Thank God for family. My mom was...is... my rock.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in the music industry?

Lourdes:
So far, it's been my image, and my self esteem and confidence.  I remember telling others what I wanted to do as a career. My classmates,  and even friends would laugh because I was fat, and really not that pretty.  Another one of the reasons why I put my dreams on the back burner. Also making sure I keep my uniqueness. It's hard not modeling what you see from those that you look up to. I have to make sure I stay true to who I am.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
How does it feel to finally getting your moment?

Lourdes:
It feels amazing.  I know this is just the tip of the iceberg but I can't believe that I actually wrote my own music and the whole world is about to hear my very first song. It's one song, but this is what I've waited for, but I know have a very long way to go, to get where I want to be.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What do you hope to do with your music?

Lourdes:
Spread confidence to our youth. I love talking to kids and teenagers. Inspiring them, showing them complete proof that all those silly sayings about "You can be what you want to be" actually is true!! Show them that the only limits they have are the ones they put on themselves.  Our next generation just needs someone to believe in them, and I'm here for it.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
If there was one thing about your career that you would change right now, what would that be?

Lourdes:
At this point it would be my networking. I wish I had more connections and knew more people personally in the industry.  But I will change that soon.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
When everything is all said and done, what would you like your people to say about you and what you brought to the table?

Lourdes:
I want people to look back and say that I was strong, I stood firm on my beliefs. That I helped anyone that I could. That my music told a story and encouraged others to move on. That I left an impression that made everyone, that crossed paths with me, feel loved.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
Come back and sit with us well thank you for taking the time to sit with us and we want to wish you much success through out your career. Hopefully you will come some time in the future and we can keep your loyal fans updated on your future endeavors.
