The Kings Aces Magazine:
First off thank you for taking time out to chat with us over at The Kings Aces. So let the people know your name, what you do and where you're from.

Melvin Williams:
My name is Melvin Williams I'm the.Owner/Head Designer of Phatz Clothing,   I'm from Atl,Ga

The Kings Aces Magazine:
When was it that you first realized you wanted to do this profession?

Melvin Williams:
I first wanted to go into fashion when I was younger, but put off due to the stigma of men fashion designers. I got back into the field like 2015 and been none stop since then

The Kings Aces Magazine:
How long have you been doing this?

Melvin Williams:
I've been going steady in the fashion field for the past 4 years

The Kings Aces Magazine:
Who are your influences?

Melvin Williams:
I would say Michael Kors, Vera Wang and Diane Von Frustenberg to name a few

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What made you want to get into the business?

Melvin Williams:
I mainly wanted to be able to express myself and also to help people of all sizes to be able to find clothes in various sizes. I'm a big & tall person so I know how it is not to be able to find any clothes in my size

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What are you thinking about when working on a drawing or sketch for a client?

Melvin Williams:
I mainly think of what I like or what I can see myself wearing, and also I envision how I would want my partner or friends to wear and I also listen to my customers and there ideas.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
Tell us what do you think people will get out of your clothing line?

Melvin Williams:
I think they will learn that I make my clothes for the everyday person at an affordable price, because we love high fashion and but not all can afford it. So i make my clothing with high fashion quality, but at a blue collar price.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in life?

Melvin Williams:
That is an odd, but great question. I actually just write a short memoir on my life. The name of the book is Life of Phatz, it's on Amazon. I would only say because I just started been comfortable been open and talking about that part of my life. It was me finding out I had Kidney Disease, which lead to my kidney failure back a few years ago.

The Kings Aces Magazine:

What is the most difficult thing you had to endure in the industry?

Melvin Williams:

That would probably be running across unprofessional people, far as tryna use my hard work and movement so they can advance. Wanting to link my name to their's or telling people they was responsible for my success.

The Kings Aces Magazine:

How does it feel to  finally getting your break?

Melvin Williams:

It's the best feeling in the world. God's Favor, is best thought to come to mind. Cause you making it and didn't have to compromise your principles.

The Kings Aces Magazine:

What do you hope to do with your work?

Melvin Williams:

I want my work to keep growing til 1 day my whole body of work will turn into an Empire. One that is in competition with my peers that have been around for many years before me.

The Kings Aces Magazine:

If there was one thing about your career that you would change right now, what would that be?

Melvin Williams:

That would he to take away my shyness. I'm a great businessman and know how to talk, but I get nervous sometimes when I be in front of crowds. I would love to break out that and be a huge voice in the crowd.

The Kings Aces Magazine:

When everything is all said and done, what would you like your fans to say about you and what you brought to the table?

Melvin Williams:

I would love them to say I respect him and his hustle. He was a great designer and he designed for the person and not just to make money. He designed to make the person feel empowered and special and not feel like we have to rob or sell to be able to afford anything that he sold. Plus he put the customer and issues on the main front and was open and very inspirational and motivational.

The Kings Aces Magazine:
Come back and sit with us well thank you for taking the time to sit with us and we want to wish you much success through out your career. Hopefully you will come some time in the future and we can keep your loyal fans updated on your future endeavors
